The Product
IPE Technologies developed a range of products for the broadcast and multimedia industry about 10 years ago, which became known as the IDS System.
Challenge
Most of the elements of the System were either sheet metal or extruded metal cases, but one item was initially made in sheet metal and, whilst it worked, it’s appearance just did not look right and there were assembly issues due to deformation of the metalwork when welded.

Solution
After some head scratching and investigation of options the design team decided a plastic case would be the answer – and next door to IPE was AV Engineering! One visit convinced our management team that IPE could work well with AV Engineering, who took our original design and re-engineered it into a plastic two part case. The case was visually greatly improved, consistent in dimensions and easily assembled.
Results
The units are now in use in over 60 sites in the UK and many more across the globe, running 24/7 in broadcast critical situations.
